All Veterinary Team Members Welcome
End-of-Life Care Made Better for Everyone
This course will feature four sections, through which we’ll learn how to make end of life care an enjoyable and rewarding component of veterinary practice. Discover ways to create happy memories for your clients, your patients, and your staff.
Section 1 will cover the CONCEPTS AND PARADIGM SHIFTS necessary to understand animal hospice, including the object of care, the goals at end-of-life, decision making, tough conversations, and competing principles (medical and ethical).
Section 2 will take a “new look” at DEATH AND DYING, giving participants a fuller appreciation of the last chapter of life, hospice care, natural death, and euthanasia. We will view the final stage of a pet’s life from different perspectives, and learn how veterinary medicine is stepping up to fill a void in care.
Section 3 will address challenges of COMMUNICATION, including the “tough” conversations, the four buyer types and discussions with children. We will offer participants tools/the skills to engage in confident, compassionate, and effective communication.
Section 4 will emphasize that end-of-life is an “EXPERIENCE”. We will discuss ways to make that experience better for everyone including “bucket lists’ and emotional support for families, practical help for children, and ideas and methods to avoid compassion fatigue in care givers.
Both veterinarians and veterinary technicians are welcome for this live and interactive webinar.

Welcome Dr. McCord and Coleen!
Meet Fiona McCord, BVM&S, MS, JD
Dr. Fiona McCord is a veterinarian and attorney who has practiced in the Dallas area for the last 35 years. In 2014, she finally decided what she wanted to be when she grew up and launched Compassionate Care Pet Services to fill what she saw as a gap in the care available to pets and their families during the final stages of a pet’s life.
As a premiere end-of-life provider in DFW, Dr. McCord seeks to improve the experience of pets and people during the last stage of a pet’s life, their death, and the grief that follows. Her practice has evolved as demand for services has increased. Compassionate Care has offered end-of-life consultations, in-home quality-of life and hospice visits, assisted natural death, in-home euthanasia, anticipatory grief support, a priority client program, concierge after care, and a pet loss support group. Regardless of the stage and scope of practice, the goal of CCPS will always be the provision of comprehensive care for pet owners during the final days of their pet’s life and beyond.
Dr. McCord holds a veterinary degree, law degree, and Masters in Veterinary Cardiovascular Physiology. She is certified in Pet Loss Counseling by the APLB, Pet Loss and Grief Companioning, and is an AHPC certified veterinarian. She is a member of IAAHPC, AVMA, CCVMA, APLB, and HABA. But when asked about her educational background, she will tell you that though the degrees may sound impressive, the best teacher has been her life experience and the hundreds of clients with whom she has shared the last moments of a beloved pet’s life.

Top notch, fantastic. I was really dreading this because I dislike CE environments but really enjoyed.
I learned SO much about myself and feel empowered to make real changes in my life.
I felt it was very well organized and I felt taken care of. Julie was an excellent speaker and I enjoyed the content very much.
I couldn’t imagine the program running any smoother.
More dates! More events! Love these and I will be back! THANK YOU!
Excellent conference!!! Much more intimate than the large conferences.
I love that we wrote and expressed rather than just taking in material. This was interactive for real.
It was such a well thought out conference. Well done.
